Melanie Marsh is an American living in London married to Stephen, the perfect Englishman, who knew the minute he saw her that she was to be his future. But when their youngest child is diagnosed with autism their marriage starts to unravel at great speed.

Stephen runs back into the arms of his previous girlfriend while Melanie does everything in her power to help her son and keep her family together.

"This is a powerful novel exploring the effects of autism on a young family from Marti Leimbach, author of the international bestseller Dying Young, who has experienced and dealt with the condition within her immediate family.

m@w reader Maureen says "I enjoyed this book immensely and had to remind myself frequently that it is a work of fiction. I was drawn in from the beginning, the elation when Melanie meets Stephen and her subsequent loss as she battles alone to help her son when Stephen deserts her. I felt this mother's raw emotion and willed her to succeed. It is one of those books that you don't want to put down.

Calling all mums! What would you do if your husband had a fling? Have you ever had to keep a terrible secret from your kids? Do you sometimes wish you had a life outside being a mum? Are you pregnant and alone? Caroline, Mark, Susan and Lisa are as different as the parenting problems they face and each has their own reasons for logging on to the Mums@Home website for the very first time. At first they are cynical about the site – how can faceless people possibly help or understand what they are going through? But as the weeks pass and their family problems escalate, each of them begins to realise that Mums@Home has become a lifeline – somewhere to go for advice, to be heard, to escape, or to belong... Sophie King captures the zeitgeist once again with this warm, moving and engaging look at modern parenting and finding friends.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, by Encyclopaedia Britannica
Published by ,
OK, so this is an internet site in a book club but we think it has a strong enough link to get away with it! If you research for information on the internet but are never sure if it is a reliable source, or if you want to get the best research tool you can for your children, look no further. Britannica have put the entire Encyclopaedia Britannica online for the first time - that's all 32 volumes. It has a pop up dictionary and thesaurus and enables access to thousands of video clips, audio commentaries and feature articles (don't worry, your kids will know how to get to those bits).

But the great bit is that unlike the books which will always be ageing, the online version is updated daily and is also linked to live news feeds. Pretty impressive from one of the most respected resources in the world.
